How To

How to Combine Different Colours In Your Outfit to Make It More Attractive

The power of colour balance is most times underestimated when it comes to fashion. And sometimes we shy away from mixing two or more colours with our outfits because we fear we might not be able to do it correctly.

Mastering the art of colour balancing in fashion is very important if you want to increase your fashion game and want to look more stylish whenever you step out. Once you’ve got a firm grasp on the basics of balance, you can play around with different pieces to add extra visual interest to your outfit.

In fashion terms, balance is about using two or more differently styled pieces together in correct proportions to establish an even distribution among the whole outfit. When done correctly, you can take two different, even competing style pieces, and make them work together to complement each other.

To explain how colour balancing can make your outfit more attractive, we will be showing you SOPE FETUGA‘s outfit which she wore to GTCO Fashion Weekend.

How many colours do you see?

Sope Fetuga did a wonderful job in balancing these colours together. From her Orange dress to her Red heels to her Green bag and her Yellow glasses.

All colours which she matched with her outfit are dark-toned and they really match well with her orange outfit.

  • One trick to colour balance in fashion is to always add dark-tone colours to whatever colour you decide to wear.
  • Avoid wearing too many bright colours. Too many bright, vivid colours are distracting. They strain the eye and attract attention in a negative way. If you choose to wear a bright piece, pair it with something that’s toned down and neutral to balance the colours.

To get yourself acquainted with colour balancing, play around with different colours. Match different colours with whatever you are wearing. Sometimes you might get it exactly how you imagined it to be but with time, you’ll get the hang of it.
