Multichoice Nigeria and Africa Magic unveiled the nominees for the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) on March 24. Now we will be looking into nominees who are being nominated for the first time. This esteemed annual event honours remarkable accomplishments in television, film, entertainment, and now in digital content creation within Nollywood and the wider African content sphere. Standout films such as “Over The Bridge,” “Mami Wata,” and “Breath Of Life” have emerged as leading contenders among the nominated movies.

The 10th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has announced its nominees, including several first-time nominees. Among them are Tana Adelana, Layi Wasabi, and Ejiro Onojaife, who have all made their mark in their respective fields.

Layi Wasabi, a filmmaker, received a nomination for Best Digital Content for his work “Medical Negligence and Copyright Infringement.” This is his first AMVCA nomination, and he is recognized for his contributions to the digital content space.

In the film “Medical Negligence,” Layi Wasabi portrays a lawyer assisting a woman in seeking legal redress for medical malpractice, highlighting the intricacies of the legal system. Additionally, in “Copyright Infringement,” Layi Wasabi speaks of intellectual property rights within the music industry, shedding light on the challenges of copyright infringement.

She has won several awards, including the On-Air Personality of the Year (TV) at the Future Awards Africa in 2011, a City People Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2017, and a Best Actress in a Lead Role (English) win at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2018.

Her role as the mother of Oby in Kunle Afolayan’s “Ijogbon (The Chaos)” earned her her first AMVCA nomination.

In the movie, he’s one of six young people running away from a town wrecked by oil pollution and political chaos. They sneak onto a ship loaded with stolen crude oil, starting a dangerous journey across the Atlantic Ocean, unaware of the risks ahead.
