Davido is about to add another major international stage to his growing list of achievements.
The Afrobeats superstar has been announced as one of the performers for FIFA’s World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert, a special event designed to build excitement ahead of the biggest football tournament in the world. The concert will take place on June 10 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with fans expected to gather for a night that combines music, football and culture.
According to FIFA, Davido will share the stage with Major Lazer, the music project led by American DJ and producer Diplo. More artists are expected to be announced, but the Nigerian singer is already one of the biggest names attached to the event.
For many fans, the announcement feels like another reminder of just how far Afrobeats has travelled. What started as a genre loved across Africa has grown into a global force, and Davido has been one of the artists leading that movement. From sold-out arenas to international collaborations, he has consistently helped put African music in front of worldwide audiences.
The concert itself is bigger than just Los Angeles. FIFA says performances in Los Angeles will be connected with simultaneous events in Toronto and Mexico City, creating a shared celebration across the three countries that will host the 2026 World Cup. The idea is to bring fans together through entertainment while counting down to football’s biggest event.

Manolo Zubiria, FIFA World Cup 2026 Chief Tournament Officer for the United States, described the concert series as a celebration of the passion, unity and cultural connections that make the World Cup special. And honestly, it’s hard to think of a better artist to represent that global spirit than Davido, whose music already connects with fans across different continents.
Fans who can’t attend in person won’t miss out on the experience. FIFA has confirmed that the concert will be streamed across its digital platforms, including its World Cup TikTok account. Full performances and behind-the-scenes content will also be available on FIFA’s video-on-demand platform, VuMe Live.
With the FIFA World Cup 2026 set to be the biggest edition of the tournament yet, the countdown celebrations are already starting in style. And with Davido on the lineup, Nigerian fans have one more reason to tune in.
