It’s Official, Netflix Announces Supacell is Coming Back for Season 2

In an exciting turn of events, Netflix has officially renewed the hit British sci-fi series “Supacell” for a second season. The announcement was made on August 13th, 2024, much to the delight of fans eagerly awaiting news of the show’s future.

“Supacell” has been a surprise summer hit for Netflix, captivating audiences with its unique blend of superhero elements and social commentary. The series, created by Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu), follows five ordinary South Londoners who suddenly develop extraordinary abilities, ranging from superhuman strength and speed to teleportation and flight.

Rapman revealed that he created “Supacell” to inspire and raise awareness about sickle cell disease. He explained, “I never understood a disease that predominantly hurts black people. So I said, let me do something. Instead of making us weak, let me do something to make us strong.

The first season of “Supacell” has been praised by critics and fans alike, with the show maintaining a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has also gained the support of high-profile figures such as Jay-Z and Idris Elba.

The cast of “Supacell” includes Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, Calvin Demba, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi-Abrefa, Josh Tedeku, Eddie Marsan, Rayxia Ojo, Michael Salami, and Ky-mani Carty.
