This is Why The Weeknd’s Face Was Covered With Bandages at The #AMAs 2020

The weeknd received his AMAs 2020 award in a look which shocked everyone. He face was covered in bandages, with his eyes looking like he received punches.

While its surprising, The Weeknd was not involved in a punch face off / fight. He’s doing okay. The bruises on his face and bandaged look is part of his latest album era aesthetic— for the song “Blinding Lights.

Speaking with Esquire about the song — “‘Blinding Lights’ is about how you want to see someone at night, and you’re intoxicated, and you’re driving to this person and you’re just blinded by streetlights, But nothing could stop you from trying to go see that person, because you’re so lonely. I don’t want to ever promote drunk driving, but that’s what the dark undertone is.”

As noted by Glamour, This won’t be first time the singer has done this look. He looked similarly at the 2020 MTV VMAs, as well as Saturday Night Live earlier this year. The Weeknd’s album cover for After Hours also features him with a bloody face.
