Her Jacques Azagury 1985 black ballerina-length evening dress, adorned with illustrations of stars, fetched an unbelievable $1,148,000, setting an unprecedented record for the highest-priced dress worn by Diana ever sold. This iconic dress, worn in Florence, Italy, on April 23,1985, soared well beyond its initial estimated value of $100,000, selling 11 times the initial amount.

According to Foxbussiness.com, Azagury, the dress designer and also her 12-year designer who worked for and with her till her in the “Paris Car Crash” in 97, shared insights about his collaboration with the late royal in an interview with People magazine last November stating that “She was the only person I was really excited to meet, time after time, every moment was so exciting to me, and we had so much fun. I never got any of the troubled Diana. Whenever we were together, it was just joyous.“
