Traditional attires are famous in this part of Africa and the Nigerian fashion industry is one which we can term as “Diversified”, with its many and ever vibrant sects of over 250 ethnic groups, boasting of their not only refined but highly stylish and culture embedded attires that bear a peculiar cultural heritages in each outfit.

Be it Yoruba’s Aso Oke which is handwoven with delicate patterns and is a symbol of wealth and is used to make Agbada, hats called Fila, and baggy shirts called Dansiki. The Ishiagu, a pullover shirt which is a symbol of authority and prestige and is usually worn with their eastern Igbo Bead work, every outfit tells an ancient tale, tradition, and identity. The Babanriga is a flowing robe, paired most often with embroidered trousers and matching caps, and is a symbol of the rich northern culture.

There are other cultural patterned clothes like Ankara, which is a Pan-Nigerian print which has gone far to become a hallmark in the Nigerian fashion industry, and together with other very stylish patterns that you do not want to miss.

So in this blog post, you will find examples of traditional attires with the perfect print, pattern, and designs. Some will come with evolved designs as modernization has refined but not filtered out the true cultural essence of the attire and eventually reflecting the strong and developing nature of Nigerian culture in the face of contemporary creativity. So in the coming months, you might as well want to consider these style inspirations, and make the mot of them.
