The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was all about celebrating Nollywood and the amazing talents in the industry. One of the big highlights of the night was Femi Adebayo’s movie Seven Doors, which won two major awards — Best Lead Actor for Femi himself and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka. Even though Chioma couldn’t make it to the event, she shared her excitement in a video on Instagram, clearly surprised and happy about the win.
The event also took time to recognise some legends in Nollywood. Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh received Lifetime Achievement Awards for their long-standing impact on the industry. Director Kayode Kasum was honoured with the Trailblazer Award for his fresh and creative approach to making movies.
A proud moment of the evening was when Abdullateef Adedimeji and his wife, Mo’ Bimpe, received the award for Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) for Lisabi: The Uprising. In their speech, they thanked God and appreciated their hardworking team, who helped bring the project to life.
Other winners of the night included makeup effects expert Hakeem Onilogbo, Mercy Aigbe, Blessing Uzzi, Clarence Peters, and many others.
