Tyla Makes History as First African Host of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

Tyla is on a winning streak—this time, making waves on the global stage.

The South African sensation is set to make history as the first African to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, a landmark moment not just for her career, but for African representation in global pop culture. The event is scheduled for June 21 and will take place at the iconic Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

The show will be broadcast live at 8 p.m. ET/PT across Nickelodeon, TeenNick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., MTV2, CMT, and other Nickelodeon platforms worldwide—bringing Tyla’s moment to millions of screens.

The Kids’ Choice Awards are all about celebrating fan-favourite stars across movies, music, TV, sports, and more. But Tyla isn’t just hosting—she’s also up for two major awards:

  • Favourite Global Music Star
  • Favourite Music Collaboration for her song “Show Me Love” with WizTheMc and duo bees and honey.

Leading the pack in nominations are Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar, with four nods each. Just behind them are Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Selena Gomez, and Jelly Roll, each earning three nominations. Newcomers to the list include Cynthia Erivo, Shaboozey, and Doechii, all making their first-time appearances.
