Nollywood is about to serve up another emotional hit as My Mother is a Witch arrives in cinemas across Nigeria on Friday, May 23, 2025.

This gripping drama features a powerful lineup of actors, Efe Irele, Mercy Aigbe, Timini Egbuson, and Neo Akpofure and tells a heartfelt story centered on strained family bonds, cultural stigma, and the struggle to forgive.

The story follows a fashion editor played by Efe Irele who returns to Nigeria from London, only to be forced to face unresolved issues from her childhood. Her strained relationship with her mother played by Mercy Aigbe, is at the center of the plot.

Director Niyi Akinmolayan, along with executive producer Efe Irele, brings this intense mother-daughter dynamic to life, using locations in both Benin and London to reflect the emotional and cultural gaps that can grow within families.

The cast delivers memorable performances that bring heart and soul to every scene. Timini Egbuson and Neo Akpofure add more emotional depth to the story, portraying characters who are also dealing with personal and family challenges.

Backed by Anthill Studios and FrameFlixHQ, and co-produced by Efe Irele, the movie was carefully developed using real-life stories of family rifts and reconciliation. This makes the story feel genuine and relatable, avoiding the usual drama clichés.
