The #HookedOnTheFaminus traditional wedding was definitely the latter.

Over the weekend, Akin Faminu and Kiky Festus celebrated their traditional wedding in Lagos, bringing together family, friends, celebrities and some of Nigeria’s most stylish names. And, as expected, the guest list understood the assignment.

From custom lace and sculpted corsets to dramatic geles, rich colours and beautifully tailored traditional menswear, the celebration delivered plenty of Owambe fashion moments worth saving to your Pinterest board.

Akin and Kiky have been giving us fashion moments throughout their wedding journey, from their stylish civil wedding in April to their traditional wedding celebration this September. For the traditional ceremony, the couple continued that fashion-forward approach with custom looks styled by The Style Infidel.

Kiky stepped out in a striking metallic gold mermaid gown by Emagine By Bukola, featuring a corseted bodice covered in ruby-red beadwork and structured detailing. She completed the look with coral beads and a dramatic headpiece, creating a beautiful balance between contemporary bridal fashion and traditional Nigerian styling.

Akin complemented her in a rich brown velvet agbada by Deji & Kola, finished with white embroidery, coral beads, and a feathered cap. Together, their looks brought together gold, brown, red and white in a way that felt distinctly traditional while still looking thoroughly modern.

But, of course, Owambe Is Online is never just about the couple.

The guests came ready too.

From Jemima Osunde’s rose-pink statement look to the beautifully coordinated purple and white ensemble worn by Stan and Blessing Nze, the celebration gave us plenty of fashion inspiration to scroll through. Other guests also embraced everything from structured corsets and colourful lace to elaborate geles and modern takes on classic Yoruba dressing.

And that is exactly what makes Nigerian wedding fashion so much fun.

There is room for everyone to interpret the dress code differently. One guest might choose a heavily embellished lace gown, another might go for a sculpted corset, while someone else keeps things classic with an elegant iro and buba. The gele can be dramatic, the accessories can be understated, and the colours can do all the talking.
