Angélique Kidjo is about to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making her the first African artist to receive this special honor.
Kidjo, a singer who has won five GRAMMY Awards and is often called “Africa’s top diva” by TIME Magazine, is being recognized for her amazing work in music. She is known for her strong voice, unique mix of music styles, and energetic performances. Her star will be in the “Recordings” category, along with other famous names like Miley Cyrus and The Clark Sisters.
This award celebrates Kidjo’s many years of sharing African music and culture with the world.
The news was shared during a live event at Ovation Hollywood, where the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced the full list of people who will get stars in 2026. The list includes 35 stars from music, movies, television, live shows, and sports.
“We are happy to share the names of 35 amazing people who will get stars on the Walk of Fame,” said Peter Roth, the former boss at Warner Bros. Television and head of the selection team. “These stars have done great things in entertainment, and we’re proud to honor them.”
Others who will get stars alongside Kidjo include actors Timothée Chalamet and Demi Moore, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, and basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal.
The exact date for Kidjo’s star ceremony has not been announced yet, but the celebration has already started.
