Vogue announced in November 2023 that the event’s theme would be “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” inspired by the Costume Institute’s exhibit showcasing “precious masterpieces of fashion,” some of which are too delicate to be worn.
Prior to the event, Vogue reported that attendees’ attire would be themed “The Garden of Time,” inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. Many attendees incorporated floral details and archival pieces into their looks, as anticipated.
Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor-in-chief, personally selects the invitees for the ultra-exclusive event, where tickets this year were priced at $75,000 each.
