Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has shared a rare and honest reflection on love, money, and personal growth, revealing why financial success was not enough to sustain his past relationship.
Speaking during an interview on Jay On-Air TV, the actor admitted that there was a time he believed money was the most important thing he could bring into a relationship. With success, visibility, and a comfortable lifestyle, he assumed that financial provision covered everything else that mattered.
But experience, he says, taught him otherwise.
According to Timini, while money is still important, it is only one piece of a much larger puzzle. He explained that when money becomes the only thing a person offers in a relationship, it exposes a deeper problem. Emotional presence, genuine listening, and the ability to truly show up for a partner are what keep love alive.
He went further to note that in cities like Lagos, wealth alone is no longer impressive. Many people are financially stable, ambitious, and doing well for themselves. What stands out now, he believes, is emotional intelligence, consistency, and intentional effort.
The actor also admitted that communication was the biggest weakness in his past relationship. His busy schedule, combined with what he described as a selfish mindset at the time, made it difficult for him to connect deeply and consistently with his partner.
Timini’s comments have since sparked conversations online, with many people agreeing that emotional availability and communication are often missing in modern relationships, even when money is present.
Looking back, the actor says his perspective has changed significantly.
The experience helped him grow, reassess his priorities, and gain a clearer understanding of what love truly requires beyond material comfort.
For many fans, his honesty feels refreshing and relatable, especially in a culture where success is often measured by money alone.
