Yemi Alade can’t hide her excitement about her first Grammy nomination for her song “Tomorrow.” “It feels like a miracle has happened in my life, and it’s a good time to be alive,” Yemi shared this in her conversation with Larry Madowo at the 15th-anniversary event of CNN’s African Voices in Lagos. This series highlights changemakers across the African continent.

After more than a decade of making music, Larry asks Yemi how she feels about reaching this milestone;

“I felt seen because it also gave me reassurance that anybody out there can become anything. You just have to believe and not stop—even if the world wants you to stop, don’t stop.”

And as always, Yemi is known for always representing Africa when it comes to her mode of dressing and appearance. She wore a vibrant yellow gown and an African-inspired hairdo that showed her African heritage.
