Temilade Openiyi has broken glass ceilings once again as she has made remarkable history as the first African woman to hold stakes in a prominent American Soccer Team. San Diego FC, founded in May 2023, announced on Wednesday that she is now part of their ownership group. This marks a significant turn for African women in the sports business globally.

Aside from her, several high-profile persons have also invested in San Diego FC including Jocko Willink, Juan Mata, and Issa Rae amongst others. San Diego FC looks promising as it’s currently putting plans on the ground for its MLS season for 2025.
