Nigerian artist Ayra Starr has broken a brand new record as the first woman to bag the Award for the Best African Music Act at the 2025 MOBO Awards in the past 16 years. The event which was hosted by Eddie Kadi and Indiyah Polack took place in Newcastle.

In addition to breaking the record, she also bagged the Best International Music Act Award, making it to the list of Nigerians who have bagged the award which include Wizkid and Burna Boy. Ayra really shined bright in the awards as she’s setting the pace for African women in the global music scene.
