Nigeria is proudly on the global stage again as Joy Mojisola Raimi, a 24-year-old graduate from the University of Port Harcourt, represents the country at the 72nd Miss World pageant in Telangana, India.
Crowned Miss World Nigeria 2025, Joy joins over 100 contestants from around the world, all competing for the crown at the grand finale on May 31 at the Hyderabad International Trade Expositions Centre (HITEX). The current Miss World, Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic, will hand over her title that night.
But Joy’s journey isn’t just about beauty, it’s about strength, purpose, and making a difference.
She has overcome tough times, including losing her mother and facing challenges while growing up with a guardian. Despite these obstacles, she turned her pain into passion by choosing to speak up for young women, support education, and encourage self-confidence.
At the opening ceremony, Joy proudly represented Nigeria’s rich culture in a beautiful outfit that blended Edo and Igbo traditions. The coral beads and detailed patterns in her attire showed off the beauty and unity of Nigeria’s different cultures.
The Miss World event isn’t just about looks, it includes categories like talent, cultural display, and the all-important Beauty With a Purpose segment. Joy is set to shine in all of them.
She follows the footsteps of Nigerian beauty queens before her, especially Agbani Darego, who made history in 2001 as the first African woman to win Miss World. Joy’s presence this year keeps that proud tradition alive, showing the world the strength, beauty, and potential of Nigerian youth.
