Before choosing what to wear to a wedding or party, many people now do one thing first, scroll. Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest have quietly become the new style guides. A few minutes online can shape what someone decides to sew, buy, or wear to their next event. Instead of guessing what works, people can see real outfits on real bodies, in motion, under different lighting, and in actual event settings.

When a look goes viral, demand follows quickly. Asoebi styles with dramatic sleeves, corset details, sculpted fits, and illusion necklines often trend after one celebrity appearance or a well-styled bridal party video. Once people see how flattering a design looks on different body types, they begin to imagine themselves in it. Tailors start receiving the same style request repeatedly, and fabric sellers notice a sudden rush for similar colours and textures.

Social media has also raised the style standard at events. Guests are no longer showing up in basic outfits. There is more attention to tailoring, fabric quality, and finishing details because everyone knows photos and videos will circulate online long after the event ends. People want outfits that look good not only in person but also in close-up photos and high-definition videos.

Social media

Another major shift is access to inspiration. Instead of relying only on tailors for suggestions, clients now arrive with saved photos, screenshots, and even short videos showing how the outfit moves. This makes communication easier and reduces misunderstandings. It also pushes tailors to refine their finishing and stay updated with modern cuts.

Colour coordination trends are spreading faster too. Once a wedding palette appears online, similar shades begin showing up at other events. Champagne tones, burnt orange, emerald green, deep wine, and soft lilac can quickly dominate a season. Guests now think beyond looking good individually. They consider how their outfit blends into group photos and overall event.

Social media has also encouraged outfit planning beyond the main event. People now think about reception looks, after-party outfits, and even second looks for grand entrances. Brides, celebrants, and guests alike want style moments that feel fresh throughout the day. Accessories and styling choices are also influenced. Gele styles, statement earrings, embellished clutch bags, and shoe pairings are often inspired by trending posts. Even makeup looks and hairstyle choices are guided by what is gaining attention online.

At the same time, individuality still matters. Many fashion lovers use online inspiration as a starting point, then add personal touches through fabric choice, sleeve variation, neckline changes, or unique embellishments. This balance between trend and personal style keeps event fashion fresh and prevents everyone from looking identical.

Scrolling may only take a few minutes, but its influence lasts far longer. From fabric choices to silhouette trends and finishing details, social media continues to shape how people show up and show out at events. And as sharing continues, the cycle of inspiration keeps growing stronger.
