Burna Boy has made history once again, becoming the first Nigerian artist to surpass 4 billion views on YouTube.
The milestone was reached on his official YouTube channel, where his music videos and other visual content have continued to attract audiences from Nigeria and around the world. The achievement also makes him the first Sub-Saharan African artist reported to have crossed the 4 billion-view mark on the platform.
For Burna Boy, the milestone is another significant moment in a career that has steadily taken Nigerian music to a global audience. His YouTube catalogue includes some of his biggest songs, with tracks such as “On The Low,” “Ye,” “Last Last” and “For My Hand” among the videos that have contributed to his enormous digital reach.

The singer’s YouTube journey has also grown considerably over the years. In 2021, Burna Boy became the first Nigerian artist to surpass 1 billion views on YouTube. Five years later, he has quadrupled that figure, highlighting the continued growth of his international audience.
His success on the platform mirrors the wider rise of Afrobeats internationally. Nigerian music has moved from being primarily consumed within Africa to becoming a major part of the global music conversation, with artists increasingly attracting listeners across Europe, North America and other parts of the world.
Burna Boy has been at the centre of that movement. His Grammy win for Twice as Tall, international collaborations and headline performances have helped establish him as one of the most recognisable Nigerian artists on the global stage.
The singer has also continued to demonstrate his commercial appeal outside streaming platforms. His I Told Them… tour reportedly grossed more than $30 million, further highlighting the size of his international fanbase.
Surpassing 4 billion YouTube views therefore represents more than another impressive number. It is another indication of how far Burna Boy’s music has travelled and how much the global audience for Nigerian music has grown.
From 1 billion views in 2021 to 4 billion in 2026, Burna Boy’s latest YouTube milestone adds another record to an already historic career.
