Burna Boy at the 2026 Ballon d’Or was one of the evening’s notable moments as the Nigerian singer presented Arsenal star Bukayo Saka with the Socrates Award in London.

When Burna Boy steps out in a suit, he makes a statement, and his appearance at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony was no exception. The Grammy-winning singer traded his usual stagewear for a tailored black suit as he took to the stage at the Palladium Theatre in London on Monday, 26 October, to present the award to Saka.

For the occasion, Burna Boy wore a black suit featuring subtle metallic embellishments, paired with dark sunglasses. Saka, meanwhile, looked sharp in a classic black tuxedo and bow tie. Seeing the two stars share the stage brought together two prominent figures with Nigerian roots, representing music and football on an international platform.

Beyond the fashion moment, the presentation carried a message that went beyond the ceremony itself.

The Socrates Award recognises footballers who use their influence to support humanitarian causes and make a positive contribution to society. Before presenting the award, Burna Boy spoke about his own efforts to support football development in Nigeria through an academy he established a few years ago.

Sharing his hopes for the future, the singer said:

“Something I started a few years ago, just to support the football culture back home. Hopefully, inshallah, one day I’ll come back here to see one of my people getting an award in Ballon d’Or.”

His words reflected his ambition to see more Nigerian talent recognised on football’s biggest stages. While Burna Boy has built an international career in music, his comments highlighted his interest in contributing to the growth of football back home and creating opportunities for the next generation.

For Saka, receiving the Socrates Award added another moment of recognition to his career, celebrating the impact footballers can have away from the pitch.

The ceremony also offered a meeting of two worlds that continue to put Nigerian talent in the global spotlight. With Burna Boy presenting the honour and Saka receiving it, the moment was about more than their black-tie looks. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the influence of African talent across music, sport and social impact.
