Hailey Bieber recently delved into the prospect of starting a family with Justin Bieber, revealing that fear has been a significant factor in the delay.

In a candid interview with The Sunday Times, the Rhode Skin founder expressed her longing for motherhood but acknowledged the emotional toll it takes, often bringing her to tears. In a semi-joking manner, Bieber admitted, “I literally cry about this all the time!”

She went on to share her genuine apprehensions, expressing the challenge of facing potential scrutiny about her future child amid existing public opinions about her husband and friends.

Hailey Bieber opened up about 2023 being her “saddest, hardest” year, attributing it to the speculation she aims to protect her future children from. In an Instagram post earlier this year, she shared, “I like to make jokes about how I feel because sometimes it’s easier than admitting I’m having a hard time.” Truthfully, she revealed experiencing some of the most challenging moments in her adult life, acknowledging the fragility of her mind and emotions since the start of the year.

Amid her ongoing “feud” with Selena Gomez, which both parties have tried to put an end to for some time now, and following her hospitalization after suffering a mini-stroke, Bieber has been more open about her mental health than ever before, and her comments about motherhood are just the latest addition to the list.

That said, despite the initial fears, it looks like starting a family is definitely in the books for the Biebers, and when the time comes, Mrs. Bieber says they “can only do the best we can to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.”

The Biebers have previously shared their aspiration to expand their family. In a 2022 interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Hailey Bieber discussed the challenges of marriage, anticipating a new season of navigating parenthood when kids come into the picture. In a 2020 conversation with Ellen DeGeneres, Justin Bieber famously expressed his willingness to have “as many [kids] as Hailey is wishing to push out,” emphasizing her autonomy in deciding their family size.

The singer shared that while his wife does want to have “a few” kids, she “still has some things she wants to accomplish as a woman. And I think… she’s just not ready yet. And that’s okay.” In 2021, however, during his concert film Justin Bieber: Our World, the Canadian singer admitted that one of his goals for the year was “squish out a nugget.” Looks like it could be a goal for 2024, as well.
