Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer: Former President Thanks Supporters

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has publicly acknowledged an outpouring of support following a difficult personal revelation — a diagnosis of an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

In a heartfelt message shared on Monday, May 19, Biden expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and encouragement he has received just a day after his office disclosed the news of his condition.

“Cancer touches us all,” Biden wrote in a social media post. “Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support.”

According to the statement from his office, the 82-year-old former president was diagnosed with prostate cancer on Friday. The cancer is described as aggressive, with a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating a high-grade tumor that has already metastasized to the bone.

Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Biden’s medical team notes one potentially positive detail — the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive. This means it may respond well to hormone therapy and other treatment strategies, offering a path toward effective management.

At present, Biden and his family are actively consulting with his physicians to explore treatment options.

This announcement has sparked a wave of concern and solidarity from across the nation and the political spectrum, with many commending the former president’s transparency and resilience.
