SCHICK Magazine is stepping into a new era with the launch of its first-ever youth-focused publication, SCHICK Youth Magazine. And for a debut, they are not playing it safe. The very first cover is fronted by Qing Madi, with the issue boldly titled The Audacity Issue.
It feels intentional. It feels aligned because if there is one artist in Nigeria’s current music space who embodies quiet confidence and unapologetic self-expression, it is Qing Madi. She is not just rising, she is defining her own pace, her own sound, and most importantly, her own identity without bending to what the industry expects her to be.
And that is what makes this cover choice land. Inside the issue, Qing Madi opens up about her journey so far, but more importantly, about the mindset shaping that journey. There is a noticeable honesty in how she speaks, not the polished kind, but the kind that feels lived in.

Her perspective on success is one that lingers long after you read it.
“I’ve had to unlearn that success is noise or validation. Success, for me now, feels like peace, like creating something honest and still feeling like myself after it’s out in the world.”
I t is a reminder that success is not always loud. Sometimes, it is quiet. Sometimes, it is personal. When she talks about her creative process, there is the same level of depth.
“I know a song is honest enough when it scares me a little to release it. If it feels too safe, it’s probably not the truth.”
That line alone says everything about the kind of artist she is becoming. Not safe. Not predictable. Real. And in a world where everyone has something to say, she chooses something different.
“Perception is loud, but truth is quiet, so I spend more time with myself, in silence, just to hear what’s real.”
It is a level of self-awareness that is rare, especially in an industry that often rewards noise over nuance. But maybe the most powerful moment is also the simplest one.
“Don’t lose your softness, girl. That’s your strength.”
That line does not just speak to women in music. It speaks to anyone trying to stay true to themselves in a world that constantly asks them to harden.
The Audacity Issue is not just a debut. It is a statement. One that sets the tone for what SCHICK Youth Magazine wants to represent: a generation that is not afraid to take up space, but is also learning to do it on its own terms.
The issue will be available digitally from April 30 via SCHICK Magazine’s official platform.
