Chinese fashion influencer Zhang Chun, popularly known online as Ni De Du Kou, has passed away suddenly at the age of 29.
The news of her death was confirmed by her mother following her funeral on Monday. According to reports, Zhang died after experiencing complications related to an existing heart condition. Her family revealed that she fell ill in the early hours of January 1 and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors were unable to revive her.
Zhang’s mother also noted that her daughter had a long-standing habit of staying up late, a lifestyle choice that may have aggravated her health challenges over time.
Zhang rose to prominence in 2018 after sharing stylish photos of herself pairing sneakers with carefully curated outfits. Her fresh, clean aesthetic quickly caught attention, earning her the nickname “Sneaker Goddess” and setting her apart in China’s fashion and streetwear scene. Within a short time, she built a loyal following of over one million fans online.
As her influence grew, Zhang expanded beyond fashion content into entertainment, performing at hip-hop events and collaborating within the urban fashion and street culture space.
However, her career later faced major challenges after the collapse of her self-founded fashion brand, which reportedly left her heavily indebted. Friends and reports suggest this period took an emotional toll on her.
In 2024, Zhang came under intense public scrutiny after joining an adult content platform in an effort to cope with her financial difficulties. The move sparked backlash, leading to a drop in followers and persistent online harassment.
Zhang was cremated in Shanghai on Monday.
