The ‘Opening Night and Cultural Day event, which marked the commencement of a number of events running up to the main award night on May 20, was the beginning of the ninth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) 2023. The ‘Runway Show and Nominee Gala’ that followed, on May 19, highlighted the role that the fashion industry plays in movies and television while also promoting up-and-coming designers.
This year’s AMVCAs, according to the Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, are intended to improve the acknowledgment and appreciation of talent within the African cinema and television business.
This year’s arrangement, which was shorter than last year’s eight-day schedule, packs everything into only three days. Opening Night and Cultural Day, which took place on May 18, honors African culture and diversity, while the “Runway Show and Nominee Gala,” which happened on Friday, May 19, provides a platform for up-and-coming designers to advance their careers and present ground-breaking works. The runway competition’s winners have the chance to work with the Pepsi brand team and win cash rewards.
The three-day extravaganza culminates in the highly anticipated award night on May 20, where exceptional talents in the African film and television industry will be acknowledged and celebrated.
