Afrobeats star Asake is back with a fresh single, “Badman Gangsta”, released through gamma. The song features popular French singer Tiakola and celebrates hard work, success, and confidence. It mixes different sounds, languages, and cultures, creating a warm, feel-good vibe.
This is Asake’s first song since his February hit “Why Love.” It gives fans a taste of his upcoming album Money, which he announced earlier this month.
The song comes with a stunning music video that matches its energetic feel. Shot in black and white, it shows Asake’s exciting lifestyle from attending Paris Fashion Week to making music around the world all with a vintage touch.
Asake and Tiakola sing in English, Yoruba, and French, switching effortlessly between confidence and vulnerability. The lyrics talk about working hard, staying strong through challenges, and being grateful no matter what.
“Badman Gangsta is a page from my real life. It’s about owning your space, your struggles, your blessings, all at once,” says Asake. “Working with Tiakola brought a whole new flavor to the track. We come from different places but speak the same language when it comes to vibe, feeling, and ambition.”
“I’ve been listening to Asake for a long time. He has the full package of the greats. There are a lot of similarities in our musicality and in the way we create,” says Tiakola. “Above our different languages and cultures, the message in our music is universal, and our chemistry natural.”
