Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has made it clear that she has no plans to sign upcoming artists, despite her success in the industry.
Speaking in an interview with Forbes Africa, Savage explained that managing musicians can be incredibly stressful, and she doesn’t feel equipped to handle that responsibility.
“Everyone always says to me, ‘When are you to sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else,” she said.
According to the award-winning singer, artists can be a handful, and the pressure of managing them can be overwhelming. Instead of running a record label, she is looking for alternative ways to support rising talents.
Although she won’t be signing artists, Tiwa Savage is passionate about helping upcoming musicians refine their craft. To achieve this, she is working on establishing a music school where young artists can develop their skills before joining a record label that can offer the right support.

“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you,” she added.
With this initiative, Tiwa Savage hopes to empower emerging artists without the challenges that come with direct artist management. Her decision reflects a growing trend where industry veterans choose mentorship and structural support over the traditional record label model.
