Ubi Franklin Explains Why a Wizkid, Davido & Burna Boy Collab Might Never Happen

Ubi Franklin

When you talk about Afrobeats royalty, three names instantly dominate the conversation: Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. They’ve been crowned the “Big 3” of Nigerian music — a title that carries not just admiration but also a heavy dose of rivalry.

But could these giants ever share the same track? According to music executive and talent manager Ubi Franklin, that dream collaboration may remain just that — a dream.

Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, Ubi broke it down simply: the industry thrives on competition. Just like Nigeria’s top banks constantly outdo each other, the Big 3 aren’t just artists; they’re brands in constant rivalry.

It would be difficult for Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy to come together,” Ubi stated. “I will speak for Davido — I have never heard him say anything ill about Wizkid or Burna Boy. And I’m sure it’s the same for them. But the environment they are in will make it difficult for them to work together. In every industry, there is the Big 3.”

Interestingly, Ubi also made it clear that while the competition is real, it doesn’t spill into personal hatred. He stressed that Davido — with whom he’s closely associated — has never gossiped about Wizkid or Burna in private, and he believes the respect is mutual.

So while the fans keep hoping for that once-in-a-lifetime record featuring Wiz, OBO, and Burna, the reality is that the Afrobeats industry might not allow it to happen anytime soon.

After all, what’s a Big 3 without a little rivalry to keep things interesting?
