In 2020, I shared how I started Glamcityz. Now, I will share with you how the journey has been so far.

I started blogging at the age of 17 and it was all about news and entertainment. I started with the blog Orangecityz. But as time went by, I also wanted to get into fashion, so I created GlamCityz.

Creating content on fashion is more difficult than creating content on News & Entertainment as you have to come up with lots of ideas, read many articles on fashion, and monitor the latest style trends.

While for news and entertainment, there are lots of sources for you and you don’t even need to do much to get your stories.

And even though fashion blogging seems more work, it’s still fun. You get to see red carpets look from celebrities and even get to review some products.

When I started Glamcityz, I started on a free domain, glamcityz.blogspot.com. With time, I moved to my own domain, Glamcityz.com. Now, I have to pay for a website that doesn’t bring any income.

Because of my love of writing and talking about fashion, I kept on maintaining the website, I had to save the slight change I get from my parents to pay for the upkeep of the website.

Fast forward to 2019, I closed my news website Orangecityz as expenses increased when I had run two websites together and it was draining to write content on two websites. I know what you are thinking, I could have kept blogging about fashion on Orangecityz and not even created Glamcityz right?

Yeah, but I wanted to separate them, let each one stand on its own. With time, GlamCityz got more viewers and readers.

Fast forward to 2021, when I receive lots of emails for collaborations. Brands from different parts of the world wanted to collaborate but they want to pay little for such collaborations. After much bargaining of prices to pay, I sometimes reject the collaboration.

There are times when some brands would later change their mind because they feel Glamcityz isn’t as big as they want and they will consider collaborating in the future.

As time keeps going by, I can see strong changes as the blog keeps progressing.

I could remember when I started the blog and was only copying content from other fashion influencers, one of them had to contact me and told me not to copy content from her anymore for she will take “further actions” against me.

Well now, whenever she publishes her content on social media, she tags Glamcityz so she can get more views and she is also one of the stalkers of the blog. And now that Glamcityz creates its original content, there are lots of blogs that look to Glamcityz as the source of their content.

Why The Tale?

Starting something can be really difficult and exhausting, you just feel like you don’t know what you are doing. People will make fun of you, they will even tell you, you are wasting your time.

They are only projecting their fears on you. But since you know what you want for yourself, go for it! Even though I am yet to figure out what direction I am moving toward, I know my goals. We also need to remember that it is okay not to figure it out yet.

The most important thing is your results (success). Your results can look like different things – sending money home, surviving on your own, getting external recognition and even your independence.

While I am yet to get it all figured out for myself, I hope you find your voice and get yourself started with whatever dreams you want to chase. Remember, you just have to take the first step and you will know the next step to take.

Keep at your dreams and don’t give up. I am rooting for you and I hope you are rooting for yourself too.

I hope whatever I’ve written here has inspired you one tiny bit. As time goes by, I give y’all an update on GlamCityz’s journey.

With Love,

Benjamin
